My dear distinguished readers,

As indicated above I’m a graduate of WCCS year 1966 and presently with children studying in this very same public school.

As a starter for this humble blog, I wish to first of all convey my thanks to those who voted me for the position that I now hold at the GPTA, WCCS for school year 2011-2012.

The 15 Board Members 5 of whom are Officers are as follows:

I also wish to greet my former classmates and fellow-graduates of WCCS class 1966 at WCCS, namely:

The others not mentioned here will be specially mentioned later; my schoolmate and one year senior to me is Mrs. O’Marie Mercado Mabayo now Mrs. Bagas became one of the TEN OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS OF THE PHILIPPINES YEAR 2008; and of course, I also wish to greet my former teacher the former Miss Erlinda Gubac a teacher by the name of Mrs. Sofia Lim Neri of Bulua who taught at WCCS before I was born.

My greetings also goes to our local and national officials such as the Chairman of Barangay Carmen, Mr. Clarex Uy, Mayor Vicente Emano, Gov. Oscar Moreno, Congressman Rofus Rodriguez, Father and son Senators Aquilino “Nene” Pimentel, Jr. and Koko Pimentel; Senator Antonio Trillanes DepEd Secretary Amin Luistro; DOJ Secretary Leila de Lima; Speaker of the House Feliciano Belmonte; Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, former Vice President Noli de Castro, present Vice President Jejomar C. Binay, and last but not the least, of course, His Excellency President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino S. III – honorable personalities whom we wish to once in a while browse our blog west city central school my alma mater.

These greetings cannot be complete without mention of the following names of past GPTCA officers who made priceless contributions to parents’ welfare such as:

2. Mr. Wilfredo R. Baang (Vice President),
3. Ms Ela Daba (Secretary),
4. Mr. Santiago Canoy, Jr. (Treasurer),
5. Mr. Roberto K. Go, Sr. (Auditor) and
6. Mr. Paterno A Yrag (Board of Director).

I give special mention to these individuals because, more than a decade ago, they initiated the construction the PARENTS WAITING LOUNGE which took them 3 years to finish, after which the parents enjoyed for years the comfort of a lounge that provided them shelter from the sun as they waited for the dismissal from classes of their children.

Of course, we need to greet Mr. Rito Jimenez and his fellow-officers who, during their term initiated the construction of the elevated water reservoir, while past GPTCA President Pastor Joel Ormeo and his fellow-officers deserve our equal gratitude for they were the ones who initiated the construction of the

1. long and deep canal extending from the rear to the front of the school complex,
2. flagpole and the
3. main gate iron bars;

With the reactivation of the GPTA or GPTCA under the new Principal, Mrs. Shirley A. Merida, PhD, we look forward to either augmenting the said canal or finding new solutions to the frequent flood at the Grade IV area.

By the way, to Madam Shirley A. Merida, Ph.D., we parents warmly welcome your appointment as the new Principal of WCCS; since your good self is a native of Cagayan de Oro and comes from Barangay Carmen where WCCS is located, we trust that you have the genuine concern to ensure that this school gives the public the quality of service it expect and deserves… we fervently hope that your administration would not only respond to the needs and problems of both the parents and teachers of this school but also undertake long-awaited reforms.
